Cox’s Bazar ( Bengali: কক্সবাজার,) is a city, fishing port, tourism centre, and district headquarters in southeastern Bangladesh. The iconic Cox’s Bazar Beach, one of the most popular tourist attractions in Bangladesh, is the longest uninterrupted beach in the world. It is located 150 km (93 mi) south of the city of Chittagong. Cox’s Bazar is also known by the name Panowa, which translates literally as “yellow flower.” An old name was “Palongkee”. Kutupalong refugee camp with more than a million Rohingya refugees is in Cox’s Bazar.[3][4] The city covers an area of 23.4 km2 (9.0 sq mi) with 58 mahallas and 27 wards and as of 2011 had a population of 223,522.[1] Cox’s Bazar is connected by road and air with Chittagong.[5][6] The modern Cox’s Bazar derives its name from Captain Hiram Cox, an officer of the British East India Company, a Superintendent of Palongkee outpost. To commemorate his role in refugee rehabilitation work, a market was established and named after him. It is one of Bangladesh’s main tourist spots. The city has the longest uninterrupted natural beach in the world.[7] In 2023 Bangladesh evacuated over 50,000 people to safe shelters as Cyclone Mocha approached.

Alerts and other information before leaving the ocean:

Before going down in the sea, you must know the time of tide.  There are several signboards and flags of Yasir life guards at different places in the beach. It is safe to go down in the sea during tide. During this time tide is indicated, and green flag is hoisted in the beach of the sea. Anybody who may be lost in the water at the time of the dangerous low tide. So, at the time of low-tide red flag is hosted with written to refrain tourist from going down into the sea. Do not go into the deep water. Take help of Yasir Lifeguards engaged in the safety of tourists. inform them while go to the beach.

Beach Photography:

In the tourism season of Cox’s Bazar, nearly two hundred photographers took pictures of the tourists. There are arrangements to print these pictures and photographers give the tourists with negatives within hours. Each of the red-dressed photographers has their ID card. Several studios are involved in this work. According to the government rate, the 4R size of the photo cost taka 30. Signboards related to this are found in the beach. Before taking photographers service, it is good to see their ID card.

Speedboat:

There are several speedboats on the beach. They move from Main Beach to the Labani point. Rent one round is taka100. Apart from this there are open speedboat run lifeboat that cost taka 250 per person.

Beach Bikes:

There are beach moveable three wheeled bikes that can be used to move on the beach in Cox’s Bazar Sea. Travelers has to pay taka fifty per person to for 1 km round trip.

 

Traveling Himchari and Inani Beach:

There are two interesting tourist spots within 12 to 22 kilometers from Cox’s Bazar. One is Himchari and the other is Inani. Inani beach is one of the most attractive sea beaches that is just 22 km away from Cox’s Bazar. And on the way to this beach, only 12 kilometers form Cox’s Bazar can be reached, and another tourist spot is Himchari. Hired jeep can be the means of travel of these tow attractive visiting spots for the tourist. If you start at morning, then you can come back Cox’s Bazar town before afternoon. You can rent jeep and cost will be taka 1500 to taka 2500. And if you go there by the local jeep, you have to spend taka 250 per second to visit this place.
